Our girls turned 1 and 3 this month so we had a big party, (OK a small party). But the kids didn't care, they had fun, played with their cousins, and ate cake and homemade ice-cream! The only problem (besides that fact that we were kicked out of our pavilion at the park and had to go home) was that Olivia got the golden toy. The one toy that Ellen will covet and steal at any opportunity. It's a small baby doll, nothing fancy, and they both LOVE it.
Since the party we have had to have several discussions with Ellen about ownership. She keep insisting that she is sharing with Olivia and I guess we can't really argue that, but her definition of sharing is a little backwards.
Ellen chose her own cake this year and she helped make it by adding the sprinkles. This is a huge highlight for a 3 year old. When it was time for the traditional first year cake smearing Olivia disappointed us by being very polite and using her fork. Luckily she soon got tired of that and dug in but we were all holding our breaths.
Ellen on the other hand at 3 was far more entertained with making cake soup with her cake and ice cream than eating it.
It is so much fun to see how they change and grow! I love watching them interact now, at least when Ellen isn't trying to strangle Olivia with one of daddy's ties... They sure do know how to keep me on my toes!
